Se4All promotes selenium-enriched dairy products for sustainable and circular nutrition

Rimini, May 7, 2025 – At Macfrut 2025, Se4All presented an innovative pilot project focused on selenium-enriched dairy products, developed in collaboration with FoodHub and international partners. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance functional nutrition while promoting circular practices in the agri-food value chain.

Selenium is an essential micronutrient that supports immune function and antioxidant defense, yet it is often lacking in daily diets across various regions. Se4All, in cooperation with local producers and research institutions, has developed a model to naturally incorporate selenium—extracted through bioconversion of agricultural by-products—into milk and dairy-based functional foods.

“We aim to prove that it’s possible to improve the nutritional quality of staple foods like milk by merging sustainability, science, and social innovation,” stated a Se4All representative.

The project, developed with partners INTA, INTI, REDINN, and UAB, is embedded in a larger vision of regenerative local food hubs that transform waste into value by integrating nutrition, renewable energy, and public health goals.
