Se4All Delegation Participates in Italy’s 7th National Conference on the Circular Economy
Strengthening International Dialogue on Bioeconomy, Circular Food Systems, and Sustainable Policy
The Se4All project took part in the 7th National Conference on the Circular Economy, held on May 15, 2025, at the National Central Library in Rome. The event was organized by the Circular Economy Network and the Fondazione per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile, in collaboration with ENEA, and under the patronage of the European Commission and the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security of Italy.
The Se4All delegation was represented by:
- Dr. Leticia E. Toselli (INTA – Argentina)
- Dr. María Julieta Comin (INTI – Argentina)
As part of their secondment at REDINN in Italy, the researchers joined Italian and international experts to engage in dialogue around circular economy strategies, sustainable development, and innovation in the agri-food and environmental sectors.
During the conference, the 2025 Report on the Circular Economy in Italy was presented, highlighting Italy’s leadership in Europe with an 83.2% overall recycling rate and 71.5% packaging recycling rate, far exceeding EU targets. The report positioned Italy as a model for effective national policy implementation aligned with the European Green Deal.
A standout moment came from Claudia Brunori (ENEA), who presented a comprehensive view of biotechnology’s role across red (medical), green (agri-food), white (industrial), and blue (marine) sectors. Her message underscored the role of science, innovation, and cross-sector collaboration in accelerating the circular transition.
The conference also addressed the importance of fully implementing a suite of key EU regulations, including those on ecodesign, packaging, right to repair, greenwashing, and urban wastewater, as tools to drive competitiveness and sustainability.
“This event reinforced our commitment to circular innovation in food systems. We are bringing home valuable insight that connects science, society, and policy,” said Dr. María Julieta Comin (INTI).
The Se4All project continues to serve as a platform for collaboration between Europe and Latin America, supporting the co-creation of sustainable food innovations through circular, inclusive systems.
